SEO Updates from 16th Jan 2020
1. Search Engine Optimization: A Field That Is Forever Green?
As the community of publishers and SEOs was trying to recover from the shock waves sent out by Google’s January 2020 Core Search Update, Danny Sullivan from Google made it clear that major core updates, like this one, happen a mere 2-4 times each year! (We know how you are reading that ‘mere’). But that only means that SEO is here to stay and webmasters need to rev up their performance to stay on top.
2. Google My Business Provider: Helping Local Businesses Grow
A new initiative by Google – the My Business Provider, allows business entities verify other businesses and organizations they work with, in Google My Business. This means that if you own a business that sources material from a local supplier who is yet to establish a verified presence on Google Maps and Search, you can add them to existing verified businesses in Google My Business. Thus, any business that has access to large volumes of data on local businesses can work with Google to help businesses create an online presence.
3. Your Search for Apparel Just Got Easier
Shopping for clothes has always been more fun in the brick and mortar store. Nevertheless, it’s tiring too. But, that may soon be a thing of the past with the new Popular Products Listing rolled out
by Google Yesterday.
With Popular Products Listing, Google displays popular products from online merchants to show them in a single spot. This allows users to filter by style, department, and size type and once the choice is made they can visit the online store which is linked through the product listing.
Though limited to search on mobile phones only, Google thus saves you the effort of having to go through multiple online merchants and compare across websites. Another step towards an enhanced user experience!
